My favorite devotional is called Believing Bigger — it’s a 100-day journey, broken into 10-day focus points. And listen… this is my fourth time through it. Fourth! And it still speaks to me like I’m reading it for the very first time.
Sometimes, it’s the same reminder I needed all over again: “Hey girl, you’re slipping into that old pattern, it’s time to shift.” And other times, the very same words I’ve read before hit me like a lightning bolt. An epiphany that flips my whole perspective upside down – but in the best way.
Right now I’m sitting in the “Identity” section — and wow. This section always hits me mind, body, and soul. Every page has me underlining, highlighting, circling like I’m back in school with a test coming. And these last two days? They’ve been a gut-check and a heart-check rolled into one.
Here’s the thing: a devotional will naturally tie into faith — but these words hit me as a woman, too. Yesterday’s reading was about embracing myself. Talking about societal and worldly protocol that is seemingly – unattainable:
Do this, own that, show up for everything.
Be pleasing.
Be acceptable.
Be perfect.
But here’s the truth: we’re not called to be perfect. We’re called to be – (wait for it) – exactly what we were made to be.
And that doesn’t look the same for any of us. It isn’t supposed to! We aren’t manufactured like copy/pasted Barbie dolls. Yet here we are, acting like it as we’re scrolling our social feeds and thinking: “Why does she have it so good (or easy)?”, or “Did you see her post? She’s got it all.”
Sister … no.
“She” is not you. And (for those of you leaning into the faith side of things with me) – you were made in HIS image. Not hers.
What are we doing? Why are we still comparing? Why do we keep trying to put ourselves into molds that were never meant for us?
We are conquering life.
CONQUERING!
Look at what you’re accomplishing on the daily already:
Momming like a boss.
Grinding through those endless work hours.
Filling up cups — your partner’s, your kids’, your friends’.
Scheduling coffee dates, play dates, managing the sports calendar, showing up, keeping life afloat.
You are flying over hurdles and moving straight towards the next – every single day.
You’re a conqueror.
So, here’s the takeaway I’m sharing from my devotional straight to you:
💡 Stop comparing. Stop conforming. Stop shrinking. Stop running from your light.
That light was made specifically for you to shine.
Now let’s read that again with a little different angle –
That light was made specifically for you to shine.
Both are true.
Ladies, we aren’t blessed for who we pretend to be. We are blessed when we step boldly into who we were always meant to be.
So today, I’m choosing to stop measuring myself against “her.” And I hope you will too.
Because girl — you’re not just living. You’re conquering. ✨
